Singer Jack Tracy will take the stage at at NYC’s Dixon Place on August 14th to perform original tracks from his Love Yah EP, covers from his upcoming Intermission EP, and his brand-new remix of "Don't Compare" with J.R. Price.
Billed as "Pop Off", the evening is part of Dixon Place's annual HOT! Festival. Joining Tracy on stage to perform their latest works will be a slew of up and coming independent LGBTQ+ Pop, R&B and Hip-Hop musicians inducing Mel Lennon, Marcel The Artist, Vegas Valentine and Javarr.
Pop Off is just one of several evenings being produced by Necessary Outlet for the HOT! Festival. The first event was this past Saturday. Bobby Hankinson hosted a night of stand-up with some of the best from NYC's queer comedy scene including headliners Whitney Chanel, Alex Kim, Nikki Palumbo, Danny Suggs, and James Tison. On Monday, August 9th, Drew Tessier will host a second night of stand-up headlined by Trans comic and Comedy Central star, Jaye McBride.
On Thursday, August 12th, Jack Tracy and JJ Bozeman will deliver a live version of their "Dying Alone, Together podcast", sponsored by Satisfyer. In addition to trolling the gay dating apps together, the guys will be joined on stage by special guest Brandon James Gwynn, promoting his new BULLIT album and "Crystal Connors" song.
“Showcases like HOT! Festival are important for the community, because as independent LGBTQ+ artists, it is difficult to get original music into people's ears,” says Jack Tracy.
It’s also the idea behind the Intermission EP. Tracy is hoping that releasing a few covers of other artists' songs will encourage music fans to discover his original compositions.
Releasing August 13, Intermission shines the spotlight on three singles and B-sides that were under-appreciated in their time. Songs like Tweet & Missy Elliot's R&B ballad "Turn Da Lights Off" that Jack Tracy (and out artist Mel Lennon) turns into a funk track; Ginuwine's "So Anxious," reimagined as a club banger; and Toni Braxton’s "The Heat," a summer jam that gets the August poolside vibe treatment.
"They also offer a sense of what inspires my own music," Tracy explains. He has released four studio albums: Older, For You, Love Yah and Intermission.
