Music Bear Tony Banks

“Not all cops are bad,” says Music Bear Tony Banks from his Brooklyn home.  “It’s just that the bad ones overshadow the good.  I want to support our men in blue but first we need to weed out the few that believe their uniform gives them power to harass citizens.”

“Run,” the second single from Music Bear Tony Banks’ upcoming album,  is a House infused Hip-Hop jam that was inspired by today’s racially charged climate.  Produced by the artist and featuring out rappers EarthTone and Yo! Majesty’s JwlB, Music Bear Tony Banks says he hopes it will encourage fans into action.

“We are tired of this so-called justice system trying cops but failing to convict; not even when video evidence is presented!  You can only beat a dog so many times before it’s gonna get up and bite you back.”

He says the first step is to elect politicians who are going to toughen up the justice system and hold bad cops accountable.

“Run” is the first politically-charged song from an artist who until now, has largely been regarded as a rapper with the fun of Missy Elliot, the swag of LL Cool J and the dance moves of Heavy D.

He was born in Brooklyn in the early 80’s, and grew up during the golden era of hip-hop when groups like Public Enemy and The Stop The Violence Movement were calls to action for an entire community.

“What I tried to create with ‘Run’ is a throwback to those classics," he says, "because these are scary times we’re living in and we, as a nation, can’t stand idly by anymore.”
