Off-Broadway’s The Marvelous Wonderettes celebrates its first marvelous anniversary this month! The show that takes a cotton-candied colored musical trip down memory lane to the 1958 Springfield High School prom and features such classic fifties and sixties hits as “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” and “It’s My Party” launched its revival at New York’s Theatre Row on Thursday, April 28, 2016. It is the latest production from producers Tom and Michael D’Angora, the team behind current off-Broadway hits Newsical The Musical and Naked Boys Singing!. The anniversary show of The Marvelous Wonderettes will take place Friday, April 28 and will feature original Wonderettes Jenna Leigh Green (playing Cindy Lou), Laura Woyasz (as Missy) and Sally Schwab (as Betty Jean). Joining them will be Ryann Redmond as Suzy. Tickets available now at The Theatre Row box office or through Telecharge.com.

“We’re so excited to celebrate one year off-Broadway,” says Tom D’Angora from his Times Square office. “There are so many people to thank for the show’s incredible first year including the marvelously talented cast and crew who continue to do such a wondrous job, whisking audiences back to the rockin’ fifties and sixties. They are true magicians. I also have to send my love to some of the past Wonderettes like Christina Bianco who starred in the original cast as Missy, and Kristy Cates who replaced her before leaving to do Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Also, the fabulous Diana DeGarmo who did an amazing two- month run as Suzy. They will always be Wonderettes in our hearts and we hope to welcome them back to our stage soon!”

The Marvelous Wonderettes tells the story of four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. The show follows them from prom night to their ten year reunion. Created, written, and originally directed by Roger Bean, the previous New York production ran from September 2008 to January 2010 at the West Side Theatre. It spawned countless productions all over the world and two sequels, The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps & Gowns and Winter Wonderettes.

The current revival production opened with One Life to Live’s Kathy Brier as Suzy Simpson, two-time Drama Desk Award nominee, Christina Bianco as Missy, Jenna Leigh Green as Cindy Lou, Sally Schwab as Betty Jean and Laura Woyasz as the w-understudy.

Jenna Leigh Green is best known for her role as Libby Chessler on TV’s Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She played Nessarose in the Broadway, Los Angeles and First National companies of Wicked. Other New York credits include bare (original Off-Broadway production), Chick Flick (Loft 227), and numerous workshops and readings. With NYMF, she was seen in Its On, Standby and most recently, as Nancy Kerrigan in Tonya and Nancy: The Musical. Ms. Green has guest starred on television in Bones, Ghost Whisperer, Castle, Cold Case, ER, and Dharma and Greg. Feature film credits include You Again and the upcoming My Eleventh, Hard Sell and I am Michael.

Sally Schwab made her Off-Broadway debut in A Broadway Diva Christmas, produced by Tom and Michael D’Angora. She later went on to appear in “Back in Pictures” and as Queenie in the Provincetown Theatre’s production of Lippa’s The Wild Party. In addition to her role in The Marvelous Wonderettes, she is the female swing in NEWSical the Musical and this month, is starring in her own show, Adventures in Babysitting. When not performing, Ms. Schwab teaches global history at South Bronx Preparatory School.

Laura Woyasz starred as Glinda in the Broadway and touring productions of Wicked. Additionally, she played the title role in the original Broadway tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie and has been seen Off-Broadway in Playwrights Horizons’ My Life with Albertine.

Ryann Redmond made her Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated “Best Musical” Bring It On the Musical. While touring with the show, Redmond was nominated Best Featured Performer in a Musical by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle. In 2014, she originated the role of Paulette in Broadway’s If/Then, starring Idina Menzel.

Costume designs for The Marvelous Wonderettes are by Bobby Pearce, the Tony-nominated costume designer from the original New York production. Choreography is by Alex Ringler (who appeared on Broadway in the revivals of West Side Story and A Chorus Line). Music direction is by William Wade (from Off-Broadway’s ImaginOcean with John Tartaglia) and lighting is by designer Lois Catanzaro. Rounding out the company are Billy Davis (sets), Shawn Boyle (lights), Jen Bullock (wigs), and Krystal Roccaro (stage manager).

In addition to The Marvelous Wonderettes, Tom D’Angora is the producer of the long running off Broadway hits NEWSical the Musical and Naked Boys Singing. Both shows continue to run in rep at The Kirk Theatre with The Marvelous Wonderettes.
