Chemical peel Chemical peel treatment

Skin peel treatment improves and refines skin texture; it Exfoliates and removes the dead outer layer of skin, revealing a new layer of skin with better tone, texture, and tone giving you complete facial rejuvenation. This is mostly done on facial skin to remove dead skin through exfoliation. It is performed by people who suffer from uneven skin tone, facial wrinkles, freckles, and skin scars.

There are several categories of chemical peels available for skin rejuvenation. These range from topical formulations available without a prescription to intense chemicals that only a doctor can administer in a controlled environment. There are basically three levels of exfoliants — alpha hydroxy acids, trichloroacetic acid, and phenols. Phenol is the strongest chemical exfoliant.

Why do I have to do this?

It is possible to use chemical peels to treat various skin conditions. You choose a chemical peel at one of three depths depending on the problem you’re treating with the procedure:

  • Light chemical peels — Light chemical peels remove the top layer of skin. It can treat fine lines, acne, uneven skin tone, and dryness. Depending on your desired results, you can do a light chemical peel every two to five weeks.
  • Moderate chemical peel — This type of chemical peel removes skin cells from the epidermis and the upper middle layer of the skin. Moderate chemical peels can treat wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone. After three to nine months, you can repeat a moderate chemical peel to maintain the results.
  • Deep Chemical Exfoliation — Deep chemical peel removes skin cells from the epidermis and part of the dermis from the middle layer down. Your doctor may recommend a deep chemical peel if you have deeper wrinkles, scars, or precancerous growths. Deep chemical peels can only be done once.

After visiting a chemical peel clinic for treatment, there may be a slight skin redness or a burning sensation. These side effects are normal and will go away after a few days. A crust of skin then forms before peeling off naturally to reveal new skin. Hence, it is always advised not to scratch or scrape the skin during the recovery period. Also, one should always use sunscreen lotion and avoid direct sun exposure as new skin can get serious skin infections and damage. A facial peel is efficiently suitable for all types of skin tones. However, it is always better to consult your local dermatologist to learn about the benefits and risks involved.
