Toronto, ON (May 12, 2020) - It has only been a little more than a year since Jonn Poker launched his YouTube channel, but he has thousands of fans already. His loyal fans are interested in every aspect of his life, and also want to know why he is named so. In an online post, Jonn cleared the air about his name also shared news about where the inspiration behind his name came from. 

Jonn revealed that he took on the stage name of ‘Jonn Poker’ in 2019, inspired by the hit single ‘Poker Face’ of Lady Gaga, the singing sensation that he idolizes. Jonn comes from John, which is how ‘Giovanni’, his Italian name, can be translated to in the English language. He preferred to drop the letter ‘h’ from the stage name that he chose for himself. 

The love for music and acting is evident in Jonn’s choice of his name. From an early age, Poker wanted to make it big in the music, acting and modeling – like his idol Lady Gaga. When only 17, he decided to learn the English language. In Fall 2015, he decided to leave behind his friends and family and shifted to Toronto. Soon after, he was bitten by the fashion bug and fell in love with makeup. In 2019, Jonn Poker makeup artist set up his own YouTube channel – using Jonn Poker, his stage name. This is how he is known among his fans today. 

Some of Poker’s fans also pointed out several similarities between Gaga and Poker, stating that like the former he has also adopted a stage name and prefers not to use his real name for influencer marketing or social media interactions. Like Gaga, Jonn Poker also has a singular sense of fashion that distinguishes him from the crowd. Also, he is a vocal supporter of the LGBTQ community similar to Gaga. Only time will tell whether Poker would be as successful as his idol, but if early trends are what one has to go by, the star seems to be here to stay.
